As soon as we stepped off the plane, the culture shock was evident, but we were quickly made to feel at home by the friendliness and generosity of the locals.
Bikash came to meet us at the airport, and took us to Meg’s, where we stayed for the first week.
It was very quickly evident how happy and healthy all the children were. We settled into life at Megs very quickly, and were made to feel part of their big family.
The children were on school holidays while we were there, so we busied ourselves with running holiday activities such as, painting, card making, and games.
I am a teacher, so I had brought over some letters that the grade 5/6 students in my class had written for the kids at Meg’s. The kids all eagerly wrote responses, so I am hoping that some lasting pen pals have been made!
Erin also spent some time interviewing the kids for a documentary on Meg’s Children’s Home.
Throughout our stay, we were able to have a good look around the village, and went into the school with the kids, when they were getting the results from their exams. Due to the generosity of our friends and family we were able to help pay some of the kid’s school fees, with donations we had brought with us from Australia.
We threw the kids a party on our last night, as a thankyou, and played games such as, pass the parcel, pin the tail on the elephant, egg and spoon races and three legged races!! A great time was had by all!

All too soon, it was time for us to leave. It was very hard to say goodbye, as we had formed such strong bonds with the kids, Bikash and the house mums, even in such a short period of time.

Before flying home we had a couple of spare days, which allowed us to see more of Nepal, which is such a beautiful country. We just enough time to visit to Chitwan National Park, where we got to see wild Rhinos, and bath elephants in crocodile infested waters.

Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I feel very privileged to have met so many wonderful and inspiring people. I think about Nepal and the Children’s home on a daily basis, and have just booked flights to go back later in the year.

We have had success!! After much generosity from Oz and Dubai we
have exceeded our original goal of 5340dhs and raised a total of
13,480dhs or $4390.

We are really looking forward to getting there -
both visiting Bikash and the kids; and heading up into the
mountains.

Hi! AND Namaste
How are u? I hope you are fine.We all are fine here every things
are going well. My study is going better. I have better progress than
the previoys. Our exam has just finished. I have did nicely. Our
result has already published, and I have got well position. I am
satisfied from my exam.
Bikash brother has greatly helps me in my study. He tought
good matters, give sggestion and also new word to inerease mine
vocabulary power. I have got love from my aunt and sisters as a mum
and from bikash brother as a dad and I have got too many friend to
share my feeling. I am so lucky to get basic needs from your
help. There are one volunteer in meg’s home and two in maya nepal. They
behave is well to us. They also teach us new thing. We have got new
more knowledge from them. I would like to say hi and namaste to all
the meg’s members who have help us and i hope that one day we will
met once. I would like to mis gungun, jorge, SAHARA, mr.rayan, as well
as all the members. At last I would like to give BIG…………THANKSSSS

Being a part of family or students of megs home I have got great
experience living
life here.My life at megs home is full of fun where I got chance

it’s safe.Really I feel this home as real home where there is
noscarcity of love or

I am sagar studying in grade 7.I am so very much happy that I
could write
here for you all the members of Australian committee which has
beenproviding
help for us.I feel so much lucky to be at the megs home where I
couldfeel
so happy with lots of love.That’s why I like to say thanks to
memberof
this committee
I love to spent time here and this place is so enjoyable
withdifferent people
and that is so much interesting. Thanks lots!

We are in the beginning of the new season and the new year,
itstarted quite well. Kids are happy to have new books, copies and
newclass with new friends. It feels so short time of registration of
Meg’s home but now it has already been four years. At that time
lotsof things has been happening and everyday we are learning new
things.

This year kids did very good in their studies and the feedback
fromthe teachers was also very good. In these two years schooling
inPrecious public school the relation between kids and teachers
hasbecome very nice. Kids are involved in the sports and has won
medalsalso. The bigger boys Chiring, Subash and Suresh won the
volleyballcompetition and Sita, Sadaxya came second on the drawing
competition.In this year kids were equally good in the extra
activities also.

At home kids are helping each others. Bigger kids are looking
aftersmaller ones and these days they all understand things easily.

We are happy to have Australian committee there to help us and we
arevery thankful for their great support.

Two loads of blankets were delivered to Meg’s Children by Trish.
One stack were knitted and donated by ‘Wraps With Love’ and the other load organised by Eileen Middleton.
Beanies knitted and donated by Penny Vine.

A big birthday cake for everyone to share was donated by Sue Chamberlain.
