Update from Bikash

Namaste Mam,

We are looking forward to see you again. Kids are very excited
about your visit they have already started to count the days to
your arrival. Some of the kids have plans to tell you stories that
they have learned from the school and they also want to show you a
little cultural program. Kids have been practicing for that really
hard. Weare thinking to make the program little bit larger and also
invite some of the neighbors, friends and school teachers too.

Also because the organizations are Australian and Finnish we
were thinking that should we invite people from the embassies to see
what we are doing and how we are doing it. That would give us a
chance to talk with them and maybe in the future to get some support
from them. What do you think about this?

Things around the home are as usual. Maya Nepal had to shift to
our home because of their problems with their landlady but now they
found a new home and tomorrow they are moving there. Few weeks ago we
had a stomach illness going around the home and most of the children
had some problem because of that. Now only Bibek has the disease and
rest of them are happy and healthy. I can see that some of the
older children are going to their teenage and have some
problems understanding the rules and authority. Now we are facing new
times in raising children. Everything is normal, the problems just
comes with the age. We are doing well with this new situation.

Because of the November election the country situation is
getting worse. That effects the kids studies. Because of the strikes
the schools are closed time to time and we never know if they have
school or not. You might have heard that we also had bombing here.
Three bombs were blasted in Kathmandu killing 3 persons and injuring
many.I don’t know where the situation is going. Election is
historical and after that the whole country will change. That
develops lots of tension among different parties. Everybody wants to
be in power.

Now it’s the time for renewing organizations and we are
working really hard to make it. What makes it hard is that we have
been doing our accounting in a different way than the government
office wants. We have had to do all of our accounting again for the
past two years. Writing all the incomes and expenses from a simple
banana to every electricity bill to five different ledgers and
vouchers. Usually organizations would hire a professional to do this
but now we are learning how to do this by ourselves and that saves us
lots of unnecessary expenses. It would also help if we would have the
office ready but because Nepal is a country where you can’t make
any schedules the office is still under some work. Example; we
ordered two cupboards from the carpenter and he promised to make them
ready in ten days. After ten days we went to pick up the cupboards
but he haven’t even started to make them. Then after a month and lots
of talk he finished our cupboards. But we are still waiting our table
to be finished. Also in the office we have a little problem with
the plumbing. Every time it rains the floor of the office is
flooding. Now when we get all the official work off the way we can
give more effort to finish the office. Actually its almost ready. We
just have to fix the water problem and carry the table there and it
would be fully furnished and ready for work.

Now the festival season is coming. Kids will have more holidays
and we will have more work. It will be lots of fun. We are planning
nice programs and activities for the children. We really are hoping
to see you soon. Especially Sanita, Hari, Krishna, Pratap and Surye,
the Maya Nepal Kids from Bugmati. Its so nice to see all of
them together. I’m sure that you will also enjoy it.

Warm love from Megs children home
